Commissioners Attendance:   Floyd DeAngelo, Clint Smith, Paul Zarrillo, Jonathan Brett, Eric Pain, Micki Lees, Michael Flaherty, Paul Sullivan, Eric Hastings.

Absent:  George Vurno

Guest:  Mr. Barry Chenney, Andre Airas; WV Dispatch.

Special Note:  GWL has made ¾ of the front page of the Suburban Trends; Commissioner Sullivan would like to Congratulate Paul Zarrillo, Councilman Wagner, Senator Pennacchio, and Council McGuinness for doing an outstanding job

Mr. Carl Richco; has been appointed by the governor to be the director of the Highlands Council.

Treasury Report:

·         April Treasury report has been handed out in meeting packets for June.

·         Accounting for Herbicide donations from Paypal are all on the NJ side.  Can’t see all the information from the donors so we are trying to work through that.

·         Boat Course fee’s and income in separate column.

·         Getting ready to do an account balance to make sure NY and NJ have paid their fair shares in the last two years; and will bring to June meeting.

·         The workers comp will go up because we now have another W2 for Amanda in the grant writing.

·         Herbicides will be netted against the 24k since we will be paying for it.

·         Rent – Dale suggests getting a climate control storage locker for our files.

o   Jonathan Brett advised will donate a storage locker, however it is in Hardyston.  Will discuss at the June meeting.

Commissioners' reports:

George Vurno

·         No report.

Eric Hastings

·         Put a lost and found on website and Facebook page.

Floyd DeAngelo

·         Suggested by Barry Cheney that the GWLC should meet with Mr. Newhouse.  Regarding the log in the lake, the DPW is not responsible for it and that the homeowner should hire a tree company.

Michael Flaherty/Cathy Ahlers/Kelly Tuturo

·         Kelly sent an email to Dale with the revisions of the procurement policies.

 

Paul Sullivan

·         Still waiting on the outcome of the little Red building; if we can rent it for office space; not looking good though.

Eric Pain

·         Lake level is 10 ft 5 inches, putting out 88 million gallons a day.

·         No update with the water management plan.

·         We do not have any water fowl specific signage.  We have do not feed the animals.

·         NJ Commissioners need to complete the ethics requirement.

·         Advised paperwork for Mark Johnson has be finalized, now just waiting on the check.

Micki Lees

·         Lake Clean up June 23, 2018

·         Paddle Palooza is September 8, 2018.

Jonathan Brett

·         Followed up with DEP and now reviewing the 120-page report on Permit by Rule on what we can and cannot do.

·         Went to EC Meeting with Clint, spoke about the presentation from MSU and are interested in seeing the report.

·         Have a proposal and breakdown on Hydro raking.  From the bridge to almost up to the Lili pads.

·         $185/hour +++

·         He does NOT get rid of the dirt

Clint Smith

·         Survey on Belchers creek is on hold until July 3rd because the water levels has to be somewhat normal.

 Dale Van Nimwegen

·         Received email from Kelly with updates to the M&P’s; she’s raised questions that would require a legal contact on the Jersey side to review.

·         Will be submitting the annual cense borough report to the government.

·         Historical split between NJ/NY; would like to meet with each side and discuss the monies.

·         Draft of annual report will be ready for review at the June meeting.

Paul Zarrillo

·         In contact with NJSP and they have been on the lake pushing safety on the lake and building working relations with the boaters and most of the local business around the lake.

o   Mentioned the Dock numbering system and they are very excited about it.

·         Met with the Steering Committee about the stump project, MSU and other topics that can be discussed in executive session.

·         USDA has expanded some of the sites that they are going to use to collect and oil eggs.  Requested if we would write a letter to Mayor Dwyer, advised we did and he responded that effective immediately, they have access to any and all property owned by the village of Greenwood lake for the purpose of goose management.       

·         Boat Course - 34 Attendees $1025.00 We have already had some calls for the August class.

·         Geese program is on-going.

·         Had a great meeting with legislation in Trenton about the GWL commission and the $500k funding. Advised will keep on Duffy.

·         Would like to go over the detail of the business plan for the $500k.

 

Public Input

Jack:  Lives by the mouth of the creek and advised there is a big tree by the buoy.

 

REMINDER: Next meeting is June 27, 2018 at the Senior Center in Greenwood Village @ 7:00pm

 

 

OLD BUSINESS

Procedures –  Need a legal contact on the Jersey side to go over questions raised by Kelly.

Floating Stump Field Project – Executive session.

Herbicide Fundraiser Project – To date we have @ $22,945.00 in checks and @ $900.00 from Paypal.  The Cost is $149/arce If we put in an extra $5k of the commission monies, we would be able to treat more of the lake.

Ice Eaters/ Floating Platforms Regulations -  Jonathan and Paul will meet before next meeting.
